Tobias Braun is a second-year student of IT Security. He is pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree.

What made you choose this degree programme?

Because I've always enjoy conducting computer and number-based research.

In which respect have or haven’t your expectations been fulfilled?

A lot of interesting work on algorithmic problems; unfortunately, also a lot of electrical engineering.

Which aspect of your degree programme do you enjoy most?

Analysing security concepts and cryptographic algorithms.

What has been your biggest challenge to date?

Accepting the lack of holidays, due to semester breaks being designated for writing exams and, therefore, for revising.

What would you like to become after completing your degree?

I would like to develop new technologies and processes that ensure the security of future innovations.

Which advice would you like to give to students who consider enrolling in this degree programme?

You've got to be passionate about maths, computer engineering and electrical engineering; if you're not, you won't be enjoying it much. Applied IT security won't be part of the curriculum until the third semester.
